Founder Katherine Richards takes particular pride in ensuring that every aspect of each project is tailored to the needs of the most discerning clients, with the highest expectations of quality
Her extensive experience and diverse expertise in theatre stage and costume design brings her clients a sometimes unexpected working process. This design discipline and training sets her work apart and ensures that the results will not only bring comfort, stimulation and delight, but are also bound to exceed expectations
Katherine’s interest in her clients, the importance of the relationships she builds with them and the deep understanding she gains of their lifestyles are paramount
She works organically and encourages the interaction of ideas between herself and her clients to flow intuitively and naturally. Hand sketching and thorough communication guarantees that designs are not borne out of rigid design boards which can sometimes feel fixed and therefore prevent the design to grow or change during the selection process
In recent years Katherine’s work has developed into further reaching areas. Her increasing interest in designing especially crafted pieces for her clients has included an expanding amount of sculptural and decorative designs for both inside and exterior works
This is a service she offers and enthusiastically welcomes commissions
LASTEST WORK
Katherine latest work has seen the launch of a collection of hand sculpted table lamps. The seven pieces are presented as a limited edition and were launched at Boodles of New Bond Street to invited guests. It is an exciting addition to Katherine Richards Design with one lamp in particular being approved by the Saatchi Gallery who selected the piece to show on the Saatchi Screen
Her rug designs are bold, if not always in colour, in design. She believes there is nothing more luxurious than designing something especially for someone and is able to create pieces to reflect a client’s story or their interest or love
A particular interest of Katherine’s is giving talks on the subject of interiors, about which she is so passionate. She loves sharing her knowledge on lighting, colour, pattern, texture and design in general. She has spoken at a number of events in the Southeast and looks forward to any enquiries
